About Us

Originally formed in October of 2024, AI Atlantic is an Artificial Intelligence consortium representing a collaborative leadership group in AI across Atlantic Canada. Our mission is to pursue ethical AI goals and objectives that align with regional priorities. The consortium will drive innovation, facilitate knowledge sharing, and promote sustainable regional growth, while actively collaborating with other national centers and institutes. By advancing research in both fundamental and applied aspects of AI, we strive to cultivate partnerships among academia, industry leaders, and government to position Atlantic Canada as a hub of AI excellence.

Event: AI Atlantic Summit 2025

Atlantic Canada AI Summit 2025 Logo

Attending the 2025 Atlantic Canada AI Summit at Saint Mary’s University was an energizing experience. The event brought together academics, researchers, industry leaders, and students from across Atlantic Canada to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence and its implications for our region. The event was packed with compelling discussions and thought-provoking presentations that made a lasting impression, and it was GREAT to see so many Digital Nova Scotia members, including RBC, DeepSense, Mariner Innovations, ACENET, Invest Nova Scotia, Springboard Atlantic, CGI, Dalhousie, SMU, CBU, Acadia University, AI-First Consulting, Barrington Consulting, Cognizant, Virtual Hallway, Myra Media, Avanade, and NS Health.

AIDA Deep Learning Workshop - June 26, 2024

Sign up for the workshop today!

https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/acadia-institute-for-data-analytics-deep-learning-workshop-tickets-923811473987

This workshop will provide a gentle hands-on introduction to developing predictive models using deep learning artificial neural networks. We will provide a high-level overview of the key elements of neural networks and deep learning, and recent advances that allow deep networks to solve challenging problems such as object recognition in images (e.g. classification of animal or letter) and sequence prediction (e.g. next word in a sentence, like Google auto-complete). Participants will get to build their own deep models using prepared software (Keras and Tensorflow) working in the browser. All code needed will be provided, however programming experience is prerequisite. You will need a laptop or desktop with the latest version of the Chrome browser, and a Google account for using Google Drive.

Objectives: To provide a hands-on workshop (using your own laptop) that is fun and informative for participants. Covers 500-foot fundamentals of neural networks and deep learning (MLP, CNN, LSTM) using popular python programming libraries.

Who is this for: Students, faculty, researchers, business professionals or anyone who are seeking an introduction to deep learning technology.

Prerequisites: All Python code will be provided, but some programming experience would be beneficial. Participants will need a laptop or desktop with the latest version of the Chrome browser running on it, and a Google account for using Google Drive.

Registration Fee: $15.00 plus Eventbrite service charge, with the primary allocation of these funds being used for refreshments.
