This is a MUST attend event for decision makers. The seminar will kick off with lunch and a keynote speaker followed by a series of lightning talks from Maritime companies who will provide examples of how they have used analytics to make better business decisions.
 
The purpose is to identify the value and importance of data collection and analysis to modern business and to discuss implementing organizational change based on the findings. The event will highlight the business metrics that matter, methods and tools for capturing, visualizing, and conducting basic analysis of the data. The focus will be on the business solution as well as the required resources and technologies needed.

Matt Cooper, Clean Simple "Using Data to Drive Your Startup's Success"

Bio: Matt Cooper is both the Co-Founder of Clean Simple, as well as the Director of Digital Marketing at ISL Digital Marketing. With over 17 years in the IT industry, Matt has used his experience in Digital Marketing and Analytics as the basis of Clean Simple’s online marketing strategy.  Using insights driven from both customer and web analytics, Clean Simple has been able to acquire and retain close to 200 customers in its first year of operation. Holding certifications in Google Analytics, Google Adwords and Hubspot, his industry experience ranges from Government and Post Secondary Education, to B2B and B2C. 

Abstract: As the Director of Digital Marketing with ISL Digital Marketing, Matt Cooper helps organizations large ans small make data driven marketing decisions. In February of 2014, Matt Cooper and Michael Brown launched Clean Simple. Clean Simple is a residential and commercial cleaning company with an innovative edge: leveraging its proprietary software, Clean Simple's rapidly growing datatset offers profitability insights in an otherwise traditional industry. Attend this session to learn how to use data analytics to make the most of your marketing dollars.

Daryl Fraser, LiveLenz "The Evolution of the Restaurant Data from Spreadsheet to Cloud"

Bio: His role has been to provide product strategy, design and implementation expertise to the team. He brings 18 years of experience in the QSR industry as a multi-unit restaurant operator and 12 years experience in the POS industry prior to his role at LiveLenz.

Abstract: Daryl’s background gives the team at LiveLenz invaluable insight into restaurant store operations, best practices and product design. His experience and expertise in QSR operations is critical to LiveLenz’s products fitting perfectly with the franchisee customer bases it serves. He will discuss the evolution of data management in restaurants and its benefits. Including the effort to capture, manage and present the data.

Wes Booth, AIDA "Lean Analytics: How Data Can Build Better Businesses" 

Bio: Wes is an Acadia graduate where he majored in Marketing. Wes hails from Wolfville and has worked with various local businesses in the Annapolis Valley, specifically in the areas of market research, social media and business development. Recently, Wes has joined the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics to grow awareness of the organization and to coordinate the events it hosts. Wes’ growing interest for data oriented startups and passion to grow businesses here in the Annapolis Valley has led him to his new position.

Abstract: Wes will be talking about lean methodology, more specifically how data analytics has played an important role in growing startup businesses today and how this can translate into more traditional businesses.

Cathy Simpson, T4G "Rethinking Innovation: Data, Culture, and Technology"

Bio: Cathy sparks interest in technology and innovation by connecting new ideas with customers and industry partners. She has held senior product management and marketing roles with NBTel, Bell Aliant, and Innovatia prior to joining T4G Limited in 2003.  She is a mother of three, an East Coast enthusiast, and loves to work with others to help them achieve their potential.  She is currently T4G's Vice President of Marketing and is based out of Saint John, NB. Cathy is a business graduate of Acadia (1990).

Abstract: There are two types of innovation: The first is the stuff from science fiction we read about in the news. It’s incredible, but also incredibly expensive. But there’s a second type of innovation that’s powerful, inexpensive, and can change the way you run your business.
